Last year, when I was in Las Vegas with my family, we were trying to pick one place that felt a little special, something more than just a normal dinner. After scrolling through a bunch of options, we ended up choosing Top of the World at the START Tower. It was mostly because of the idea… a restaurant that rotates while you eat? That sounded too cool to ignore.

I remember we didn’t go in with crazy expectations; we were just curious. But the moment we got there, the whole experience felt different. And looking back now, it actually turned out to be one of those moments I don’t really forget. 

So, I’m going to share my real experience, how it was from start to finish, what the food was like, how the view actually feels, and of course, whether it’s really worth the price if you’re planning to visit.

Arriving at the STRAT Tower

Getting to The STRAT Tower already was easy. You can spot it from far away, so there’s this build-up as you get closer, especially at night when it’s all lit up. When we walked in, it felt like entering an attraction. 

When the doors opened, everything slowed down a bit. The vibe was calm, dimly lit, and a lot more upscale than downstairs. Even before sitting down, you catch these huge windows showing the city from way above.

About the Top of the World Restaurant

The Top of the World, one of the most well-known restaurants in Las Vegas,  is not just high up; it’s actually a rotating restaurant. The whole dining area slowly spins while you sit there, so your view keeps changing without you even realizing it at first. Inside, the atmosphere is relaxed with soft lighting, neatly arranged tables, and big windows everywhere. The crowd was a mix of everything when we went…families like us, couples, tourists, all there for the same reason: the experience.

The Food at the Top of the World

Here’s what we ordered from this world-famous restaurant and how it actually turned out:

Starters

We tried things like calamari and a seafood-based starter, which was amazing overall. It was fresh, looked appealing to the eye, and was also nicely cooked.

Main dishes

Steaks are clearly their main thing (we ordered one + another meat dish). So they were actually really good, well-cooked, and were actually worth it. Also, the portion sizes were decent, not huge but satisfying.

Drinks & dessert:

Drinks were good but expectedly pricey. The dessert was nice, more about the experience than anything super special.

The View at the Top of the World

At first, you don’t even notice the rotation. It’s so slow that it just feels like you’re sitting still, until you suddenly realize your view has completely changed. That’s when it clicks. One moment you’re looking at one side of Las Vegas, and then gradually, the entire skyline starts shifting around you.

What made it even better for us was going around that evening, when the city transitions from day to night. Watching the lights slowly come on across Vegas while sitting up there was honestly one of the best parts of the whole experience. 

Dining Experience at Top of the World

The staff was polite and professional, nothing over the top, but definitely attentive enough. Food timing was decent too…not too fast, not painfully slow. And since I was there with my family, it actually worked really well. Everyone was comfortable, and it didn’t feel too formal or awkward. It’s one of those places where you can just sit, talk, and enjoy the atmosphere. Overall, it just felt like a unique Vegas dining on the strip experience.

Prices at Top of the World

Here’s the honest breakdown of the prices:

• Steaks: around $60–$100+
• Seafood dishes: around $50–$80
• Starters: roughly $15–$25

It’s definitely an expensive place, and you can feel it when the bill comes at the end. But at the same time, it doesn’t feel like you’re only paying for the food. A big part of it is everything around it, the fact that you’re dining so high up, the restaurant slowly rotating while you sit there, and those incredible views of Las Vegas all around you. 

My final take is that my visit gave me one of the most beautiful views I have ever seen in my life, and my family felt the same way, too. So, for me, I know START Hotel is not cheap at all, but it’s also not a total waste. The food was amazing, and overall, the experience was really worth it.
